lover of loving love

I love Alexa Chung! And Madewell. So this collaboration is a dream for me. As I said in an earlier post, I went to the event in LA for her debut collection last year and got a few choice pieces. This year is an even more lethal collection and I already have my eyes set on a couple pieces: The rust colored long sleeve dress (click the link below to see Alexa frolicking around in it!), the polka dot peter pan collar button up, the green plaid coat, and the navy chunky ribbed knit sweater! Not to mention the pouch (I have last year's as well).

Can't wait! I'm going to the event this year, too! Will I see you there?

Also, I pretty recently got a tumblr going, though I don't go on as much as most. It's just for pretty little things I find, books I like, literary quotes, funny gifs... Friend me if you have one too! Denouement.

home (and t-shirt love)

Hey guys! So I just got a new t-shirt at work and I'm super glad that tees are the new big thing (Doesn't that sound weird? t-shirts are always in, right? But apparently, fashion is telling us that tees are in NOW). I'm really a huge tomboy at heart so I can't wait to be able to incorporate the easy peasy style of a casual t-shirt into more fancy ensembles like these pleated pants in the pictures below, and skirts as well, especially midi length. I also love that there's a cat silhouette in this particular one, along with the Manhattan skyline. Meow!

t-shirt: American Apparel
high waist pleated pants: also American Apparel
loafers: thrifted

I'm planning on doing the t-shirt + skirt combo a lot this fall. This Sailboat tee from Anthropologie and this other one from Madewell are on my list.

Up at the top of this post is a picture of me and J sitting in front of our house at the tree stump table, which is probably my favorite part of the house, although there's way too much to choose from. I thought it would be kinda neat for everyone to see inside my house. It's really cute and old and all mismatched furniture and decoration from different eras, thanks to my roommate, Alyssa, who's got great style and is super crafty. In fact, she just recently refinished the coffee table in the living room. To see her DIY you can go to her blog, Love & Space. Also, there are pictures of my bookcase, and my room, kitchen, etc. Just a couple glimpses. The outfit pictures are taken in my backyard (the sign is leftover from Alyssa's wedding photos. All you need is love! :)

ding dang

Today I had class canceled since my amazing professor, Kevin, had a reading to do up north-- for some reason it still felt like playing hooky even though I didn't actually have class. So, Johnny and I went to Riverside to eat at Simple Simon's, thrift, and record shop. I love that whole area of Riverside, especially the Mission Inn. It's super cute and the shops are great and Simple Simon's has the best chicken and pesto sandwich on olive bread ever. It's pretty much the best sandwich period. I didn't take a picture while I was there so these ones are from Yelp!.

The antique store over there is super huge and always has real cute finds (skeleton keys, old-fashioned radios, hats!, retro games, owls). The only problem is the prices are not all too desirable. I really really wanted the navy trimmed boater hat and the radio. I didn't get anything but J got the Beach Boys' Love You album. Good find for $5. Instead of buying things I took secret pictures on my crappy phone since I forgot my camera. So, enjoy!

And then, here's some pictures of me coveting some Madewell items, like the dress from a previous post, and the silk canyon skirt. I need help.

So long, Michael Scott! :(

etsy sale and style preview

Okay so, I'm going to be getting into gear and restocking the shop, HoneyBee Vintage on Etsy, within the next two weeks. I have a bunch of stuff I've accumulated and after one week I'll have the time to shoot everything and post 'em up. In the meantime the stuff in my shop is discounted 40% off! There are only a few things left, so have at it!

Here's a preview, too, of things I am coveting, and the things that have inspired my vintage finds. So once I have the listings up, you'll find things similar to what you see below, but for much much cheaper! Chiffon, denim, wide leg jeans, florals, peter pan collars, round sunglasses, navy/sailor inspired tops, shorts, polka dots, dusty rose, yellow, crop tops! (These photos are from Topshop, Shopbop, Madewell, Dahlia, and Urban Outfitters).
