smorgasbord

Hey hey! Random non-cohesive post today! Tomorrow I'm going to have my sister model for me for my new Etsy listings. They should be up by Wednesday. I'm excited! You should be too. In the meantime, check out my HoneyBee Vintage SALE!

Also, I've been getting more into nail polishes lately. I'm not big on it, so I'm starting off slowly. I mostly just use clear polish, especially on my fingernails, and would sometimes deviate to black. BUT, I found the prettiest natural shade from Essie. It's called mambo, and it's a nice nude tint with a shade of pink and the tiniest bit of shine. Love it.

Although, we just recently got the Neon collection of American Apparel nail polish at work for the summer season. I usually hate neon, but I love the purple color and the lighter orange.

Lastly, here's a super cute picture of Coco smoochin' on a baby coyote :)

the tale of a woman who built herself an illusion to live by *

This summer is going to be my most productive yet. I have quite a few goals, two of which include a whole lot of writing, and reading as well. I'm even taking off two weeks in July and one in September to dedicate solely to writing my thesis a.k.a my collection of short stories. I so far have about a third of it (tentatively) done, even though I am in a perpetual mind frame involving me not thinking any of my stories are worthy of being published.

If any of you are interested I also have a wordpress site that is more literary in theme. I haven't updated it in a long long time. Actually, I think I'll go do that right after this :) I'll post up an excerpt of my most recent writing. Here's the link.

My summer reading list consists of the following:
Desperate Characters, Paula Fox
Miss Lonelyhearts/Day of the Locust, Nathanael West
So Long, See You Tomorrow, William Maxwell
Time’s Arrow, Martin Amis
We, Yevgeny Zamyatin
Housekeeping, Marilynne Robinson
Invisible Cities, Italo Calvino
Seize the Day, Saul Bellow
Chronicle of a Death Foretold, Gabriel Garcia Marquez
The Great Gatsby, F. Scott Fitzgerald
The Death of Ivan Ilych, Tolstoy

I'm used to reading mostly short stories of late, but I love Gatsby (even though it sounds overrated, it's not), and Gabriel Garcia Marquez is beautiful always. The rest are fairly obscure to me aside from West and Bellow, so we'll see how I do with those.

In other news, I won the American Apparel pleated shorts contest! I'm pretty excited. I get a free pair out of it. :)

And, some good 90s music for this fine summer day.

call your girlfriend

Hey y'all, here's a great little summer song for ya, from Robyn. She never fails with the upbeat dance tunes. :) Love the punch dance moves, and she did it all on the first take.

And. . . I've been in a summery mood, and with that mood comes the desire to wear floaty, cottony, dreamy, white dresses! Here's a few. All on ASOS.

Maybe pair it with these cute TOMS shoes for some contrast and fun-ness. :)

colors

This pretty image is from this rainbow wedding that took place recently. Isn't it awesome? Those are the bridesmaids' dresses! I've been looking into weddings lately, doing research for my boyfriend's cousin, Natalie, who is getting married and appointed me as her DIY girl. I love it. I'm not big on planning out weddings and going all out, but I love cute little simple weddings with a lot of DIY aspects and vintage flair. Non-traditional is where it's at. :) The more I look into it, the more excited I get about the possibilities, for Natalie, and for J and me farther down the road as well.

In other news, please please please check out my etsy shop! Everything is now under $30! That's a steal. Check it out :) HoneyBee Vintage

And a sort of wedding-y song :) [I don't know why there's a gerbil]
