lazy lazy

I know, I know, I haven't done any posts for the 30 for 30, but it's just a super stressful busy time right now, working on three short stories for my first collection, holiday season at work (retail at American Apparel), and being lazy with any free time I do have. I'll try to catch up, but it's more than half over! Just know that I'm keeping the deal and I haven't bought anything new the whole time. I've been sticking to the items on my list, I promise. I'll at least do some highlight outfits for sure, when I get the time.

For now, enjoy this.

My real-life friend from my days in Orange County and blogger/youtube fashion sensation, Christine, has been a pal and plugged my blog and Etsy shop on her YouTube channel here. She does outfit videos, hair and makeup tips, the works. Right now she does these uniform videos where one key piece rolls over from the outfit before, sort of in keeping with the 30 for 30, in that it helps when you're on a tight budget. Check the video for Uniform #7 down below, inspired by yours truly. :)

shop stuff and sling shots

The little stinker above is J's mom's french bulldog Elijah Blue. He's just about to sneeze and J was quick enough to catch this funny little guy's funny little face. :)

I added some new items to the shop, HoneyBee Vintage; a dress, shoes, some tops, pants... (True to form, however, I did not have time this week to chronicle my 30 for 30 outfits this first week. I promise next week I will, and that I have been staying true to the deal! You have my word. :) ) There's more that I don't have time to add just yet but check right now and see the cute new stuff. The rest will be up tonight I think. Or tomorrow early.

edinburgh

So this is where I'm planning to put all my money into. It's a month long study abroad in Edinburgh, Scotland Summer 2011. Writing workshops, castles, and lots of green. Trees and hills, I mean. I won't have any money after I pay for this.

Edinburgh 2011

It's a worthy endeavor, if you want to help, you can do so by going to my Etsy shop and buying some of my inventory! I'll be putting a bunch of listings up tomorrow for sure. (It's a new store and I just made my third sale yesterday... And it's still really exciting.) :) Check it out!

navy and tan and red!

Why, Ramona West? Every time I'm sure I can pull off saving and not buying anything new, you restock your inventory. Thanks a lot! Check out the new additions here. Here are my most coveted pieces...

But the treasure I really want from Ramona West's shop is this here lovely, which is why I had to post two different views. Love love love.

peter pan collars abound!

Okay, I know I'm late on this but here are my 30 for 30 items! I'm excited. Yesterday I had work so I couldn't participate on the first day, but today will be day one of my challenge. I decided I'll take a picture of my outfits every day but only post them weekly. So you'll get to see a whole week at once! :) Anyway, on to the list...

9 tops: (American Apparel ivory blouse, Urban Outfitters creme lace top, thrifted brown gingham crop, J.Crew navy dot blouse, Lark and Wolff red plaid top, Erin Fetherston for Target creme blouse with black peter pan collar!, Urban Outfitters black and white stripe blouse, American Apparel grey triblend shirt, Anthropologie navy/rust stripe top)
5 sweaters: (Urban Outfitters black strong shoulder cardigan, J.Crew plaid panel cardigan, UO creme crochet peter pan collar cardigan, thrifted grey oversized cardigan, Anthropologie navy/white stripe cardigan)

6 dresses: (Anthropologie black/multi print, UO red bow print, thrifted green dot print, Anthro green/black print, Alexa Chung for Madewell white/black dot print, Alexa Chung for Madewell black peter pan collar dress)
4 skirts/shorts: (thrifted tan dot skirt--might be traded out, UO flower print skirt, UO pale petal pleated skirt, J.Crew brown corduroy shorts)

3 pants: (J.Crew dark tan corduroy pants, American Apparel black high waist pants, American Apparel brick red high waist pleated trousers)
3 shoes: (Kimchi Blue sand t-straps, Kimchi Blue black heels, thrifted brown fringe wingtip loafers)

As you can tell, it's primarily dark colors and prints and peter pan collars and chunky knits, but I'll be sprucing it up with bright accessories and such. I'm thinking of switching some stuff out since some of my clothes are at my old place still, like a skirt I was planning to include in the challenge. I'm particularly proud of my coats but I probably won't get much chance to wear them in southern California. We'll see!

i'm with coco!

Conan O'Brien Etsy Treasury!!

For those that don't know, I love coco! J and I went to see him-- when he was still on the Tonight Show-- and got front row seats behind Andy Richter and got the shake hands with both at the end of the night! This picture is from the episode, captured from hulu. You can see us in the crowd off to Conan's left. :)

His new show on TBS starts this week! Too bad Max Weinberg isn't signed up to join with the old Conan band, but Andy is. Can't wait!

cowboy up

Today we had our 10 year reunion for Cajon High School. Yes, I graduated in 2000. Yes, that makes me 28. Yikes. It was an informal one at the park near my house. Fun times with people I've only so far kept in touch with through facebook. We had a bbq and played silly games, including one where we had to name songs that were popular during our senior year. This has prompted me to make a high school playlist (not consisting of songs that were played at the reunion; i.e. the Thong Song). I won one of the raffle prizes so I got some gift certificates to this awesome Mexican restaurant we used to always go to during lunch in high school and some other cute stuff. Here's a picture of me with the other winners.

Some of our teachers showed up (one of which is married to my classmate, Cara). In this picture are Mr. and Mrs. Syphus (my English teachers) and Mr. Cech (my Theory of Knowledge teacher) in an amazing denim ensemble, along with my classmate Josh on the very left.

And then Clair and me, voted by our friend Josh as the ones who most look the same after ten years.

New vintage dress from the Tailor's Stories on Etsy! Stinkin' cute, but it needs some alterations. I just got it in the mail a few days ago and was really excited about it so I used it today at my reunion. :)

(It's part of my 30 for 30, which I still need to post up. Tomorrow for sure.)

challenge

So I'm going to be starting the 30-for-30 challenge from Kendi Everyday. You can find out the rules on her blog here. Basically, it's to help you work with what you've got-- and forgotten-- in your closet, to make outfits that will last for a month, so as to help you with your binge-shopping. I'm really excited for this because I need to stop spending my money on clothes.

It's not as hard as it sounds since coats and accessories aren't included in the item count. I'll be posting my outfits on here hopefully. I do tend to get real lazy. If not every day, I'll do a weekly roundup. Actually, that sounds more doable. Of course, since I work at American Apparel, my work outfits won't count (although some work clothes will be part of the 30, like my high waist zip pants and pleated trousers). Y'all should get in on this, too!

Also, I don't know if I told you, but I moved into a super cute house in Redlands and am still in the process of getting situated. The only thing done is the little cupboard thingy in my bathroom. Here are some pictures.

i'll never find another you

Two new additions to the Etsy shop, HoneyBee Vintage. :) Hastily put together because my camera man is in class. :) But I figured I should put something up since I haven't in so long. I'll probably revamp all my listings when I have the time. In the meantime. . . Pastels in fall? Yes, please.

stick boy and match girl in love

Stick Boy liked Match Girl,
He liked her a lot.

He liked her cute figure,
he thought she was hot.

But could a flame ever burn
for a match and a stick?

It did quite literally;
he burned up quick.

Also, our halloween photo (more to come in a later post):
