crush

Ugh, I can't get over this kid. Love.

madewell fall '11 lookbook!

So the lookbook for Madewell's fall line is out and it's super cute and preppy and layer-y and casual(y) just like I like for fall. Only, they don't include Alexa Chung's fall Madewell collection in it. It's probably going to be a surprise. Did you enter to win a trip to LA for the event? I did! Go to the website (or the Madewell Facebook Page) and you can enter to win a $2000 shopping spree for you and a friend too! Actually, here's a link to the Giveaway. Take me with you if you win! :)

sosupersam

This is a behind-the-scenes video of a promo shoot that my college friend Dennis' girlfriend, Sam, did. She's a dj in the LA scene and she also has her own style blog SOSUPERSAM. Check it out. She's gorgeous and talented and I pretty much want her wardrobe! I've never met her before but I follow her blog. I've always wanted to be a dj. My friend Geo would teach me things while I was at UCI but I've forgotten everything... Maybe it's not too late to pick it up?

Also also, I love this song by Cults.

bonfire

Hey all, so last week-- in the midst of my hermitting myself away to get some reading and writing done before the master's program starts up again in the fall-- I went with Johnny and some of his family (sister, cousins, nieces) to Bolsa Chica where we had a bonfire with hot dogs and chips and s'mores filled with Reese's peanut butter cups! So good. It was super chilly and breezy but sort of nice because of the weather. I got a few good shots with my shoddy camera, so the quality's not the greatest, but I don't mind. What have you all been up to this summer, by the by?

Also, I made the mistake of wearing the skirt I intended to sell, that my friend Karlee is modeling in this post here, and have now decided to keep it! :) J's nieces were in love with the whole outfit (including the Anthropologie swimsuit under my sweater) and want me to give the skirt to them once they "grow and grow and grow" enough to fit into it, as Brooke put it. I love these girls!

ALSO, also, I put up a few choice pieces from my last haul and photo shoot. So head on over to HoneyBee Vintage after perusing the pictures, please!

I'm wearing:
H&M straw hat
H&M cropped striped sweater
(under the sweater) Anthropologie floral swimsuit by Zimmerman
thrifted denim skirt

Sand crabbin'

Goofball Jewelie before doing her silly impressions of her family that involved a lot of mock-farting.

All adorable, sharing a chair.

And finally, a picture of me and J.

behind the scenes

This is the behind-the-scenes video of the summer lookbook for my Etsy shop, HoneyBee Vintage. If you haven't already, you can see more of the pictures on a previous post, here. HoneyBee Vintage Summer Lookbook!

p.s I love the song in the video and requested it be used :) Reminds me of Empire Records. I hope you've all seen it. That movie is my youth. :) (I'm 28, so I get to say things like, "I'm getting old" and actually mean it.)

inspiration

Kiko Mizuhara < 3

One of my favorite writers is Haruki Murakami, who wrote the Wind-Up Bird Chronicles and the amazing short story collection After the Quake. One of my favorite novels of his is Norwegian Wood, and they made a movie based on it, starring Kiko as Midori. I haven't seen it yet, but I'm going to. Have any of you?

magic hour

Hey all!

It's been a while but I've finally gotten around to shooting the new Etsy merchandise for (late) Summer '11! I'm really excited about how well the shots turned out. My friend Emma is a genius and we were able to capture the magic hour lighting. Hope you enjoy! There'll be a video to accompany the pictures soon. :)

The listings will be up by this weekend at the latest, but for now go to HoneyBee Vintage to check out the sale going on.
