Hey all. So here it is, the long-awaited dress + crown post. This is what I wore to my wedding, thanks to the lovely and talented Josie of Frances Baker and Lauren of Blooming Leopold. The dress is the Virgins dress-- hand-tailored to me by Josie-- found here, inspired by the prom dresses from The Virgin Suicides. And the flower crown was custom-made for me by Lauren. It all came out beautifully and I couldn't have asked for better. Thanks, ladies!

The wedding took place at Heritage Square Museum in Los Angeles (in Highland Park). It's actually a museum of old historic LA homes that have been restored and turned into its own little neighborhood. You have to go and check it out for yourselves. They have guided tours with docents all decked out in period garb.

As a surprise gift to my husband, I sang two songs at the reception: "Sea of Love" by Cat Power and "Home" by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros. (Johnny's adorable nieces supplied the background vocals on "Home".) Another of my talented friends (and my housemate), Nick, played guitar for me. His band, Swiss Alps, is amazing!

solar eclipse of the heart

I hope you all got a chance to witness the partial eclipse yesterday. It was eery and strange. The pictures are unedited and you can see how different the light was. Lovely! You can also see how much of the sun was covered by the crescent shapes the shadows of leaves made. Also, we poked a hole in a piece of paper and held it up against a tree trunk and you can see the crescent shape there too. Science!

The dressing rooms at Madewell are actually white, but this is a lyric from Ooh La La by Faces. Listen to it as you peruse the blog post. Or, just listen to it. 'S good. I went to another event there-- my second-- this time for a blogger event hosted by Tammy of Lemons, Avocados, and the Bay. Super fun, with a sweet little discount of 25% off of purchases of 125$ or more, as well as sweet treats from Frosted in Long Beach. It's the first time I'd ever heard of it, and let me tell you it is simply delicious. They had red velvet/cream cheese and royal white/salted caramel buttercream hi-top cupcakes which are really cupcake sandwiches with frosting middles. Salted caramel anything is my weakness. One of them, at least. I have many. (I still have a backlog of posts to create from weeks and weeks ago. Including wedding posts and crafting and DIY goodness!)

Anyway, I gathered my old American Apparel coworkers and drove out to South Coast Plaza for the event at the Madewell where my little baby sister works. All of the pictures were taken by my coworker Kaity of Kaity Deerly. Check out her blog. It's dreamy.

Afterward, I took 'em to good ol' Alta Coffee in Newport. We didn't get any digital shots there, but we did manage to take some out in the neighborhood around the cafe.

I'm sure you've seen pictures of my nieces on my blog before, but now they're actually MY niece's and not just my boyfriend (husband) Johnny's nieces! Hooray! It's exciting for me at least because I love them so much. Anyway, I got them some sidewalk chalk for Easter and here's what we decided to do with it.

I am wearing a white dress from Anthropologie and also some Anthropologie charm flats. Fancy, for once!
